Four-year-old Miri Unasaka arrives in Tokyo on Christmas Eve, alone and searching for her father. Drawn by the bright lights and festive atmosphere, Miri wanders into a hotel, where she meets a man with a tempting cake. Little does she know, she has stumbled into the middle of a meticulously planned plot to assassinate a dangerous mafia boss.
Professional assassins Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa share a home and a desire to escape the painful memories of their pasts and avoid emotional attachments. However, when their mission goes awry and they bring Miri back to their apartment, they realize they must find a way to return her to her mother. But Kazuki is quickly won over by Miri's pure and joyful personality, and he embraces the role of a surrogate parent. Soon, even Rei's stoic demeanor melts in the face of Miri's infectious spirit.
Despite the unpredictability of Miri's every move, Kazuki and Rei take on the daunting task of raising an energetic child, which proves to be even more challenging than their missions.
