Characters Bio
Eita Otoya: He is currently playing as a right winger for Spain's FC Barcha in the Neo Egoist League and is a participant in the Blue Lock competition. He was ranked #4 during the Third Selection and subsequently played as both a right winger and right back in the match between Blue Lockout and the Japan U-20 team.
Otoya is portrayed as having a calm and easygoing personality, showing little sign of pressure or stress even during matches. He doesn't shy away from taunting his opponents and seemed to find entertainment in the altercation between Rin and Shidou after their match.
Moreover, he possesses a high level of confidence in his skills, instructing his team to focus on defense during his Third Selection match and not to talk back. However, he also acknowledges when he is impressed by a teammate or an opponent, as demonstrated by his excitement at Chigiri's speed.
Gin Gagamaru: Gagamaru is currently a goalkeeper for Germany's Bastard München and is a participant in the Blue Lock Project. He initially joined Blue Lock as a forward with aspirations of becoming the best in the world alongside his fellow competitors.
During the First Selection, Gagamaru was assigned to Team Z, but after the Third Selection, it became apparent that he possessed the physical attributes, natural reflexes, and abilities necessary to excel as a goalkeeper. As a result, he has since transitioned to playing in this position.
Gagamaru is a tall and slender young man with long black hair that he usually ties up in a bun, and he has previously dyed it silver. At Blue Lock, he wears the standard-issue black body suit with gray stripes and tracksuit.
During the First Selection, Gagamaru donned the blue #6 jersey of Team Z and wore the team's gray-capped cleats. Later on, during the Second and Third Selection, he wore the #88 jersey of Team Red and Team C, respectively.
In the match against the Japan U-20, Gagamaru wore the official Blue Lock player uniform with the number #1, which closely resembles the ones seen in the first cover spread but without the Japan flag. In the Neo Egoist League, Gagamaru wears the #99 white uniform with red trim of Bastard München.
Hyoma Chigiri: Chigiri is a participant in the Blue Lock competition and currently plays as a left winger for England's Manshine City in the Neo Egoist League. He is a forward prodigy who had to overcome a leg injury that once held him back from playing at his full potential.
Upon arriving at Blue Lock, Chigiri was initially assigned to Team Z. During the First Selection, he avoided participating in matches or kept his involvement to a minimum, likely due to his past fears and insecurities. However, he was motivated by Isagi during Team Z's third game, prompting him to let go of his fears and play football with his heart, just like his rivals, to become the world's best striker.
From a young age, Chigiri has always believed himself to be superior to others, thanks to his naturally strong muscles, exceptional football skills, and outstanding speed. He refers to himself as a 'chosen one' and looks down on those who get in his way or annoy him, though he behaves as though stating facts. Chigiri is known for being a super-egoist, cocky, and the most aggressive player on the pitch. However, after tearing his ACL and being harassed by the Wanima Brothers, his sense of superiority began to crumble, and he became afraid of playing football. He accepted the invitation to Blue Lock out of fear of never playing again, hoping to find a reason to give up on his dream.
Since regaining his ambition and ego, Chigiri has become a persistent and stubborn force on the field, aiming to leave an impact and make other players notice his abilities. He has great focus, constantly running through tight spaces and switching between dribbling and passing. Chigiri finds joy in surpassing other players with his speed and has stated that he will become the best striker in the world. However, his ego can lead to frustration, as seen when he cried after being substituted out in the match against Japan U-20.
Chigiri takes care of his body and appearance, tending to his injured knee and hair. He is easy-going and friendly outside of the field, often talking casually with his teammates and building chemistry on the field.
Archetype: Chigiri fits the archetype of a Counterattacker, which is any attacking player who uses their pace to beat defenders and create scoring opportunities during unexpected moments. To be a successful Counterattacker, players also require some degree of shooting skill. Counterattacking opportunities often arise when the opposition team is attacking with most of their players forward, and a counterattack occurs when the ball is won back and quickly played into space for a counterattacking player to run onto.
Chigiri's natural physical disposition allows him to run at incredible speeds compared to most players, and his great focus enables him to keep control of the ball and his speed while maneuvering through tight spaces, between players, and seamlessly switching between dribbling and passing. After training with Manshine City, Chigiri has learned to make more calculated decisions when cutting and running, aiming to reach his ideal shooting zone using his refined speed and dribbling abilities instead of blindly rushing into the penalty area as fast as possible.
